Mayor Knox Supports Ware Hotel & Local Businesses at Downtown Santa Charity Event

Mayor John R. Knox of Waycross, Georgia attended Ware Hotel’s Downtown Santa Party to support local businesses as they donated presents to the community’s children.  The event was held on Saturday, December 15, 2018.

Walt Eddings, resident of Ware Hotel and local business owner, organized this event when he realized many of the families at Ware Hotel could not afford gifts this year. At the Downtown Santa Party, local businesses partnered with the Downtown Business Authority to become “Downtown Santas” for the children in the Ware Hotel community. Each business donated $200 worth of presents to each child they sponsored.

In attendance at the Downtown Santa Party included Mayor John Knox; Edward Cady, Director of the Waycross Downtown Development Authority; representatives from local businesses and other community members.

The event also featured a live Santa, a message spoken by a local pastor and Christmas carols. A 14-foot Christmas tree was also donated by a local merchant to help decorate, and Ascension St. Vincent’s Urgent Care and St. Vincent’s Cardiology donated catered food for the event.
